Metal lunchboxes are now considered as collectible items. Come to think of it, there’s not much to a metal lunch box. It’s made of metal, and comes in a kid-friendly design of a kiddie show or a popular TV personality. Designers keep current by featuring the trendiest TV show on the lunch box design.

What makes for a collectible lunch box is the quality. Collectors of the old lunchbox has a set of standards. It should still be usable, not too damaged, maybe with some rust. And primarily, it should have a memorable design.

Among the most desired vintage lunch boxes are those of old cartoons like Scooby-doo, and TV shows like Star Trek, movie personalities Hank Aaron, or movies like Clash of the Titans.

Sad to say that increasingly more lunch boxes are now made of plastic. It’s almost inevitable that soon, metal lunch boxes would be extinct. Though the boxes are constructed from cheap metal, it is not true that they are damaged easily. On the contrary, metal lunch boxes have proven to be kid-tested and enduring.

A lot of hobbyists collect the metal antique lunchbox for display. But there are a lot more who collect collectible lunch boxes because of the reminiscences they had from their school days. It’s fun reminiscing about the regular peanut butter and jelly sandwich for school lunch. It does bring back memories.
