Vacuum cleaners are an essential piece of kit, we need them to keep down the levels of dust in our house and keep all the grime from building up on our carpets, yet now they are starting to get all posh and expensive! I know there are a lot of luxury things on the market, luxury cars and yachts for instance, luxury homes even, but luxury vacuum cleaners? When I want to buy a vacuum cleaner then all I look for is the ability to suck up dirt and the price. Although it is nice if the unit is light enough to lug up the stairs and round the house, and it is annoying when they have a really short hose that can’t reach where you need it, so a decent sized hose is another good feature, but is pretty everything people need.
The problem with expensive items is they often try to justify their price by adding on things which we don’t need, but things that look good on the box and in the adverts. That new super duper turbo cleaning nozzle sounds great and looks great, but it is just something else that you need to store, and something else you need to try and use. The only attachments that I find useful are the extensions to help me get into the corners of the room, and the brush to help pick up hair and do a bit of dusting at the same time, anything else is just a gimmick.
There are lots of great cleaners you can get which don’t cost the earth and give you all the functionality you need, the Hoover U5140-900 Widepath is a good example of this as it has been a bestseller on Amazon.com for years now, only costs around $70 and has thousands of great reviews. That shows you that you don’t need to spend hundreds of dollars on a cleaner to get something good.
