A book stand is a amazing aid for every true book lover. Currently available models vary from simple wire devices like the Fold’N'Stow that holds a book at user selectable angles on just about any flat surface, to the elegantly conceived and executed LEVO Bookholder that secures your book or other reading material in either a floor stand design or a clamp-on model that securely fastens to just about any table, desk, or counter top. Many book stand designs function well with hard cover books, but most also can work very well with paperbacks held by book holders like an OpenPage.
The Fold’N'Stow is among the least expensive of book stands. It folds compactly for easy storage and transport and is sold with it’s own convenient pouch designed for use in a 3 ring binder. It may be placed on a countertop for cook books, or the top of a desk, table, workstation, bench, etc. Wire arms with page holders extend out from the back plane to hold your book open, and, by moving the arms either closer together or farther apart, smaller and larger books are readily accommodated. The back of the stand has horizontal pieces that can be raised or lowered to adjust the angle at which the book is held relative to the surface upon which it is resting.
The most popular model of the LEVO book stand is the LEVO floor standing model, which features a weighted rolling base for easy movement from chair side to bedside to desk side to beside the kitchen counter top. By holding your book above the surface to which it is secured, the clamp on design saves the weight and expense of the weighted floor base while conserving valuable work space, since neither your book nor your book holder rest on the surface.
Even though there are other book stand designs currently available, the Fold’N'Stow and LEVO designs have stood the test of time and function well under heavy use.
